Homewrecker

You know you don't listen to me when you're with him
But I hope you know that I won't be ignored.
And when you listen to this song and when you see where you went wrong
It'll be worth all of the things that you could never afford.

I know it breaks you,
Whenever he wakes you
Because it's not me there by your side
With all of the antics and all of the history,
I find it funny how you always find a way to pin it all on me

You know you don't listen to me when you're with him
But I hope you know that I won't be ignored
And when you listen to this song and when you see where you went wrong
It'll be worth all of the things that you could never afford

As I try to get up off of the ground
You hold on tight and you pull me back down

You know you don't listen to me when you're with him
But I hope you know that I won't be ignored
I know you don't listen to me when you're with him
But I know you know that I can't be ignored

Patrick: Homewrecker was actually the first track we had written after releasing the 2011 EP (Bandcamp). It fits nicely in the split because it’s really fast and in your face whereas the other two tracks are more low key. Basically it’s about trying to win over a girl while some bro is trying to stop that from going down.

Middle Finger

You never knew me well and I can tell you now
We had no chance in Hell
I would swear to God (if I believed that He was true)
Every time we fucked I wasn't thinking of you

Two weeks gone by
I'll take the long way home
Whenever I was up inside of you I realized I was better off alone
Beat down, passed around and used,
I'll take your self-respect and go

Two months gone by.
Middle finger to your bedroom window

Saying goodbye to my old thing
Eyes wide to see what the new brings

You never knew me well and I can tell you now
We had no chance in Hell
I would swear to God (if I believed that He was true)
Every time we fucked I wasn't thinking of you

Andrew: I wrote the chorus of this song while working in a parking booth last spring at school. The lyrics along with the musicianship and structure of the song itself are simple, straightforward and to the point. The lyricism identifies with an ex-girlfriend who inevitably wants you back, and the mental conflict one must face to squash personal pleasure and move on.

Lifted

It isn't the down time,
It's those times where it's hard to believe I could be this happy...
But I won't be

My head is clear, my thoughts are mine
I know what's real, I don't need a sign
While you cross another line,
Living another lie must really suck this time
And you're only getting older
But you're still looking for that shoulder to cry on
And honestly it's the last thing that I need

It isn't the down time,
It's those times where it's hard to believe I could be this happy...
But I won't be,
Because I'm waiting for something to say

You told yourself you were doing me a favour
Your wake up call will lift you off the ground and leave you suspended
And with every falling out you find a way to penetrate my mind,
I'm waiting for something to say

I'm waiting

Patrick: Lifted was a spur of the moment add to the split. It’s about being in and out of a relationship, getting back together thinking it will be different only to do it all over again. The second half of the song had been written since last summer and was a part of a really shitty song we played at a show once and it sucked. We started to write a new track and found that it fit together nicely so we scrapped most of that old one.
